RoHS检测目的是限制电子电气产品中使用有害物质的使用，以促进废弃电子电气设备的环保再生及最终处理，保证人体健康。指令规定了有毒有害物质限值要求，同时还要求各国根据2002/95/EC号《关于在电子电气设备中限制使用某些有害物质指令》制定相应的惩罚。
